We used a mottled blue to illustrate the sky and very light fabric for the window and door, but feel free to use any colors for those pieces. The narrow strip of the fabric positioned under the house block could represent a sidewalk, grass, or even a flower garden—it’s up to you.

Construct the house block row by row, beginning at the top: The second row represents the roof, house peak, and sky and is made up of one square and three triangle-squares. The next row is made up of house body bars, the door, and the window.
